At a gala event held on Friday, October 20, Westport Winery was awarded 2017 Small Business of the Year at the Greater Grays Harbor Leadership Banquet. Just shy of their tenth anniversary, the Roberts family accepted the award together, with their team in attendance.
During her acceptance speech winery co-founder Kim Roberts thanked the team and their contributions to the winery’s success along with the strong support of the local community. At the same time, she announced that the winery’s philanthropic program had donated over $400,000 to thirty-plus local organizations since its opening in 2008.
This award was a result of nomination and voting by the general membership of the organization. The winery was previously honored as the 2010 Best New Business by this group.
Overall 2017 has been a banner year for the winery earning top local, regional, and national recognition. The Sea Glass Grill at Westport Winery Garden Resort was voted #2 winery restaurant in the nation in 2017 by USA Today. The business has been voted Best Winery by King 5 Evening Magazine seven times, the most recent in 2017.
In 2016 Westport Winery was honored as one of the top twenty most-admired wineries in North America by Winery & Vineyard Management Magazine. The business earned Best Winery, Best Wine Shop, and Best Boutique Winery for 2016 by South Sound Magazine. They received the Grays Harbor Environmental Stewardship Award in 2015. They were named the Best Washington Family Business Silver Medal winners in 2012 by Seattle Business Magazine. And in 2011 they garnered Washington Winery to Watch by Wine Press Northwest.
